I'm returning to my blog site after such a long time away and I find nature one of the best grounding aspects of my life. That and art. These images are of found skeletons of tomztillo shells from summer of 2014 in my back garden. I am always ammazed at the intricate beauty nature gives us ...for free. I'll challenge myself to interpret it artistically.

Tuesday: Nature's designs...is it a fractal?
I see fractals in nature so frequently and am facinated especially by skeletons, be they leafless trees, the human body or as in the photos salmon skeleton. The fish skeleton's repeat...would it be termed a fractal? Walking along the frozen shore of the Fraser River we found several skeletons. I could hardly stop taking photos. There were many... skeletons and photos. The mouth in this state is rather scary. all the endo of the salmon's like cycle.
My fence and my art, I'm catching up with color,
I haven't blogged for so long I'm re-learning. Still searching for my true muse, I am excited to try a variety of styles themes, and influences. Being involved in a wide variety of activities, I realize fractures my style and how I express myself. The one constant seems to be color. My fence, I love the silvery back ground and now the gorgeous clematis growing and rewarding with magnificent blossoms. I do feel so very blessed that I can do all that I want with little worries.

Progress and Poppy Pods
Today has been termed Blue Monday, according to the media, being a down day because of going back to work after holiday celebrations. ( I certainly have great sympathy for those Canadians suffering in deep freeze 'blue' temperatures...May you soon get warmth and mellow temperatures.)
Only blues in my day are the paints in my Progress of re-inventing my strugeon piece It has been fun changing it completely ...well almost, with color, the 'play ' part of color. 'Pointelism' or 'divisionism' results in retinal fusion of colour. I see the colours as sparkeling or gem-like. So I have been changing a rather dull sturgeon painting into a very colorful, active piece, a little at a time. This resonates well with my love of using lots of colour. It is a slow process so I am taking time to step back and analyse. The progressive photos start from several blogs back.
My next decision is how to treat the background or negative space.

The Poppy Pods of the title...I've done four, one per day and have yet to do todays.
Where will this lead me? I have yet to find out. I am sketching them until I am either sketched out or decide to paint, collage, sculpt or move on.

Catching Up
So much time has passed since my last notations;birthdays, Chrismas, New Year's celebrations. It is good to start getting back to my art after lots of holiday photos and fun. This year I'm returning to play, play with paint, dripping, dribbling, smearing, squishing, squeegying; play with collage. That is the play part but my goal is to also focus on a series yet to be decided. Until then I am sketching my poppy pods daily in charcoal and conte on recycled brown paper. Up until now I have been scattered with painting for themes, geting excited by new distractions. So 2014 is the year to focus and get excited by one series and develop from there.

Finished painting fish...finally by the end of last week. To Nanaimo Art Council and city council meetings re Cultural Plan and dinner for 13. Only time for painting was on the fish wall.

Non-graffiti on our bathroom wall
This past summer I had the grandkids, ages 11 down to 3 draw fish on our bathroom wall. They are great drawers and I want a fun bathroom with their stamp and a good memory in it. So now I am adding color to their great little drawings. It is taking longer than I expected but I'm getting there. Just about done.
